Kindness feels good—for both the giver and the receiver. Being kind, sensitive, and thoughtful makes us feel good about ourselves, as much as it makes other people grateful.
But it's not always an easy choice.
When we're disrespected, kindness isn't the natural response. It takes tremendous patience and strength to respond with kindness. But that's usually the better choice.
Aside from being the right thing to do, it's also powerful. Kindness disarms and brings to light the immaturity and senselessness of the offense. It challenges others to also become better.
It's not an easy choice, but the right path is often the difficult one.
