Excellence Requires Sacrifice

If you want to pursue excellence, you'll have to make sacrifices.

It requires discipline. Of accomplishing what you set out to do. Of meeting deadlines, even if it means working until two in the morning. Of continuous improvement, revision after revision, until you get results. Of thousands of hours of deliberate practice, until you gain mastery.

It requires perseverance. To keep going, through setbacks and failures. Even when it feels hopeless and you're thinking of cutting your losses. Even when you think yourself a failure.

And it starts with understanding, accepting, and embracing that those sacrifices are necessary. That excellence requires them. That they are part of the journey. Without them, you'd be settling for mediocrity.

So before you choose the path of excellence, prepare to make sacrifices.
