Speak the Truth, with Empathy
I've heard people say, "This is me. I'm just being honest and frank." That may be true, but a lot of times, it's used an excuse to put others down. To intimidate with aggression. It's insecurity disguised as strength.
We can be truthful, even firm, and be kind at the same time. We can be unwavering in our values, and still be considerate of others' beliefs.
Truth is important, but empathy is, too.
Speak the truth, but don't deliver it with ego. State the facts, without packing it with irrelevant opinion and misplaced emotion. Provide constructive criticism, not condescending judgment.
Speak the truth, but speak with empathy.
